While I was mowing, on this lovely cool May day, enjoying the scent of honeysuckle, I noticed that one of my larger Redbuds has rather sparse leaves and a huge number of seed pods this year. I remember reading somewhere that trees that are stressed and about to die do this… produce lots of seeds. Anyone know if this is true?
Several years ago I bought a Catawba twig. It lived in a pot for a few summers (which is amazing since I can’t keep things in pots watered) then I planted it.
This year, for the first time, there are blooms.
My Purple Smoke Bush is starting to look respectable.
The poor Magnolia that I killed has come back to life as a shrub. I will give it a bit more time to decide which branch is going to lead, and then prune it back into a tree.
The Confederate Jasmine smells heavenly … and needs a trim.
The Sugar Snap Peas are finally blooming…
