Barn Symbol Galaxy

I started a new mat. It was designed by Bea Brock of Hill Country Rug Works.  I decided to start on this symbol… and I’m finding the deep narrow v’s a challenge. 20140514_230858 (800x600)   20140514_230951 (800x600)   After some advice from Gene Shepherd of the Internet Rug Camp I am much happier with my progress. 20140515_100601 (800x600)   So what have I learned? Deep narrow V’s don’t like # 6 & 8 cuts…

Lotsa paws

It’s true what they say about walking away from your work and looking at it from a distance.

Latest paws

Tonight I used some of the colours I dyed last night.

I love the turquoise in the paw at the bottom.

Here’s the whole thing.

Rooting around.

I’m sleeping in my dad’s guest room. It’s more like a work room with mom’s craft and sewing stuff still present, and a large table covered with Campbell’s soup labels dad has to package up for his Barbershop group.

So since I have claimed all the craft and sewing stuff, I go rooting around…

The first cupboard I open I find the dye spoons I was hoping to find, and 5 packages of Cushings dyes. Next a casual glance around the room…

Hmm, wonder what’s in that bag over there?

OMG I see worms!

Most of the bags contain wool already cut in a very fine cut that I am not likely to use. BUT, underneath I spy three bags with whole pieces of woolen cloth. I thought I had cleared all the hooking stuff away but apparently not.

Cheers,

New Swivel frame

Yay! It arrived last night. My new K’s swivel frame. Should make hooking the cats paws much easier.

eBay wool

The first of me eBay wool has arrived. I don’t usually go for green and orange but sometimes you have to go out of your comfort zone.

Wool wool, more wool

image

I started my new project the other night. I am using some of the wool I dyed, some leftovers from my cat rug and various pieces of old garments I found at Frenchy’s in Saint John years ago.  The problem is that since I found Gene Shepherd I am not happy with the colours I have.  I have an assortment of darks, plaids and some brights from sweaters but I want the variation you get from dyeing like Gene does. So over the last few days I have bid on an assortment of dyed wool on eBay. I think I am addicted.
